openTwo early 2010s Minecraft series Web Original
This is a bit different from most of these, but i recall two of the first Minecraft series i watched somewhat, and i may me mixing up some details between the two, so i'm combining these into one comment.
I watched was a You Tube series by a family, the son had the channel but his sister and dad were playing with him. I remember them joking about "hat trees" and talking about their mom making food or something, and i remember them building a house. I think this was pre-hunger bars, so likely early 2010s. I watched this in 2016 or so, and when i opened the channel, the featured video was a Minecraft video related to an anime series, maybe a map taking place in a school? The second series i remember was by a guy playing hour+ long episodes on a singleplayer series. I remember the videos having a facecam in the corner. He spawned on an island and had a "trusty diamond hoe", but it later broke. He had a larger house than he thought he needed ((as at that time, most houses were just item storage, furnaces, and a crafting table)), i think he had a mine in his house, and later in the series he boated out to another island to bring a sheep(?) over to his island. I think his channel name was something related to a crocodile/alligator.
That's all i've got at the moment, i'll update this if anything else comes to mind.
Edited by Sharkthe-catopenslasher movie villain's murder spree is derailed by accusation of racism. Web Original
The more I try to remember this, the more I think I either dreamed it or conflated a couple of skits I saw online. If it is real, I am leaning more towards a self-contained web video skit because I can't imagine it happening in an actual horror movie, maybe not even a Scary Movie type spoof. Anyway, it starts out like a normal slasher movie scene with the killer coming after someone, but the victim points out some way in which the killer's motives/actions seem racist. This keeps happening as he tries to kill other characters, maybe to the point where nobody in the scene dies because the killer is too busy trying to explain he's not racist/sexist/etc. This sounds like a Political Correctness Gone Mad thing, but I remember the humor being more directed at the idea that even a slasher movie villain wouldn't want to seem racist.
openOnline video about how using the toilet can kill? Web Original
A video on (as far as I can remember) the children's section of some publishing company like Simon and Schuster. I never actually watched the video in question (I was too scared to as a kid), but I remember that the thumbnail featured a puppet of some sort (I believe it was a chicken, but I'm not entirely sure) and that the video was titled something along the lines of "using the toilet can kill" or "your bathroom can kill you". I was recently reminded of the video's existence and wanted to see if I could find it and finally watch it.
openA piranha plant as a main character Web Original
It is an animation in youtube and with a TV Trope space.
If i remember correctly a Mario Bros animation with a piranha plant who was raised in the mushroom kingdom who later grow up with a design very similar to Petey Piranha but with clothes.
openSprite Animation Series on Machinima about Disney Web Original
I remember in the last years (maybe even months?) of the YT channel Machinima, there was a animated sprite series that had a linear story, but was also part commentary on Disney and their subsidiaries as a whole. I remember it for a number of scenes and story elements which I will list here:
1. Luke Skywalker and Mickey Mouse being the main protagonists, with the main antagonist for the 1st (and only) season being Pinhead from Hellraiser.
2. Several Disney-owned characters get corrupted by Pinhead into their masochistic cult, like Buzz Lightyear, Ursula, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
3. At one point, the Avengers show up, only to be unceremoniously disintegrated by a monster's blast in the next episode.
4. At one point the Enterprise shows up and someone asks "Is Star Trek owned by Disney?" and Luke answers, "No, but it seems like a matter of time".
5. The last episode they meet a hologram of Walt Disney (whom Mickey Mouse refers to as "Dad" and hugs). Also, during Pinhead's defeat, he gives a soapbox-type speech on the downfall of the Hellraiser franchise.
As you can see, it's a strange series of sorts. Can't remember what it was called for the life of me.
openAnime intro recreated with windows xp sounds Web Original
I remember seeing a video of an anime opening recreated with Windows XP sound effects, but I forgot both the name of the anime and the video.
openOnline Cartoon Short - two animals (mice?) being rude Web Original
I remember a series of funny online cartoon shorts from circa 2009-2011 that focused on two animals (two mice: one small and one bigger) who were 'rude' (in the sense of NSFW language and degrading to each other). It wasn't Pinky and the Brain or anything else mainstream. It could have been a standalone show based just on these two, or part of a wider show that also had different characters. Production quality was relatively high and I seem to remember Australian accents for some reason.
I remember two episodes specifically where things take a turn for the worse: one where they are in a living room and it gets trashed, and the other where they are in a car (maybe a driving lesson or something like that?) and that also doesn't go so well for them.
I have searched for years (albeit sporadically) but return no results. Would love to solve this mystery!
openFlash Talking Fish Web Original
When I was in high school, I took classes in Flash animation (back when Flash was strictly for Web Animation only), and among the material we studied was a little series of animation featuring talking fish - they were stylized to look like somewhat realistic fish, but with floppy mouths, a lot like the kind of stuff you'd find on old sites like JibJab. I remember one such episode was a musical one where the fish are on a plane, and one of the passengers falls in love with the stewardess who handed out bags of peanuts, the chorus from that song has never left my head: "Peanut lady, how do you do? Peanut lady, I think I'm in love with you." I have searched the internet high and low for these Flash fish, and can't find anything. Does anyone remember these?
openThis weird thing I made Web Original
The email is @Pik The Red Pik, oh, and he made silly memes on his community tab.
openGame Grumps video/episode Web Original
Does anyone know which video/episode Danny talked in a nasally, geeky voice and then claimed that's how he talked when he wasn't working?
openVegetable hospital (solved) Web Original
An animated horror short, possibly a music video, on You Tube. About a hospital in which the patients are turned into literal vegetables. I think the main story surrounded a child who discovered this process happening to his grandmother.
Edited by FuzzytheduckopenAnimated horse falling into a pool Web Original
There was this old flash animation from the early 2000s that I accessed from a code printed inside a box of Eggo Waffles (I think).
The video showed an anthropomorphic horse jumping off a high-dive board, making poses in mid-air while saying "sha-bam!", and then crashing into one of those tiny "bucket pools" from slapstick cartoons. The pool, predictably, is destroyed on impact.
This was part of a small series of flash animations that featured the horse and another animal that I don't remember.
Also on that site was the flash game "Qbz".
Edited by jrodismopenSome youtube video Web Original
So it was this music video, there was this character that looked like a super mario OC and she was dancing to this song in japanese and it ocassionally switched to her wearing some sexy cat outfit only for some elderitch eye to appear.
openGumball Featurette Web Original
I’ve been using my VPN provider to access some YouTube videos from Cartoon Network Asia and Australia that were formerly available in Canada. However, I'm having trouble finding a featurette for The Amazing World of Gumball that begins with Richard singing along with the theme music.
openLooney Tunes Flash Game? (Solved) Web Original
I remember growing up, I used to play Flash games on the official Looney Tunes website all the time, and I've seen YouTube videos documenting most of the ones I remember, but there's one that I haven't seen in the longest time, nor have I even heard anyone else mention, but I definitely remember it very vaguely. All I can really say about it is that in it, you played as Elmer Fudd and had to stop Daffy from trashing a house. I think you might have had to hit him with a broom or something. Daffy would pop out from different locations before doing his classic laugh (hoo-hoo! hoo-hoo-hoo!) before throwing things into the air (eggs were among them) and Elmer would have to catch them before they hit the ground, or they would break and he would become very angry. Does anyone else remember this game, or is it lost media at this point?
Edited by JankyKongopenVery early internet search engines / 'internet directory' sites? Web Original
Dear Tropers,
We all know Google of course. And Yahoo. Many of us know Infoseek and Excite. Can you please share with me the names (and possibly more info) of VERY early search engines or internet directory sites?
Do not limit yourself to the web (WWW) please. Gopher sites are welcome. And also 'sites' that could be used to search (or 'surf'/access) BBS (Bulletin Board Systems).
(To the TV Tropes moderators: I hope such a broad/general question like this is allowed.)
(EDIT: I replaced 'BB Ss' with BBS as the former was being interpretated as a 'link')
Edited by ththth10openSomething about a polish cartoon reviewer and an innuendo... Web Original
I remember watching a video in which a polish cartoon reviewer reacts to a scene from the polish dub of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (one with Gadget and crossdressing in it). What was it called again (I think it was something like "You know, for kids!", but I'm not really sure about that)?
Edited by OmegaPC777openmermaid/siren short comic on tumblr Web Original
This was a short comic drawn by an artist on tumblr. I remember very little but I really want to find it again! It was a short story about a mermaid or siren of some kind from the perspective of a fisherman. The only thing I remember clearly was a panel in which the fisherman could see a smiling face in the guts of a freshly cut open fish.
Thanks in advance!
